How do technologists do “ICT for development”? A contextualised perspective on ICT4D in South Africa

We take a layered approach to contextualise Information Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D) understand digital technologists’ motivations implement technologies address socio-economic issues based on their capabilities and kinship affiliations. adopt an interpretive conducting inductive qualitative study of technologists in South Africa. propose three mechanisms (emotional connectedness, user-centred technologies, symbiotic relations) through which undertake ICT4D exercise agency enhance the well-being disadvantaged members society. Taking perspective capability as underlying undertaking projects allows us contribute literature.
